I have kept a few blogs in my time.  I loved writing, but things would inevitably get busy or something would happen, and my posts would get more and more sporadic until they just stopped altogether.

I have spent the past few months reading other people's quilting blogs.  There were some blogger/quilters that made my jaw drop out of sheer awe, at which point I would resolve to quilt all day, every day, until I was half as good as they were.  There were some blogs that made me laugh out loud.  There were some blogs that were both.  I have no idea where I am going to fall within that spectrum... definitely not the jaw-dropping-talent side, but I would at least like to get to the point where the sight of my quilts doesn't cause seizures or an epidemic of the swine flu.  I'm not sure that there is any reason why anyone would want to read this, but you never know until you try.

There may be the occasional post about things that are not quilting-related, but I can promise that I won't mention religion or politics.  If people are going to love or hate me, I want it to be for my writing or my quilting abilities - or lack thereof.

For the record, I'm in my late 20's, and have recently joined the ~9% of the population who are unemployed.  I'm still recovering from a surgery that I should have recovered from long ago, except that my life just doesn't work that way.  Since I don't have a job, I am currently squatting at my parents' house.

Quilting is the only thing that is keeping me out of the looney bin.

I started "quilting" (i.e., learning to sew so that I could make quilts) in December.  I decided that more formal training was in order, so in January, I signed up for an "Intro to Making Quilts With a Machine" class that met once a week for 10 weeks.  I learned a lot, and feel like I have gone from quilting newborn to infant.  Still, I probably shouldn't be left alone with a sewing machine or scissors.  But since no one has taken them away from me yet... I'm going to keep trying.
